Lips pursed, she turned to fully face him, and raised the dull blade she held in one hand up to her chest-level. With a click of her sword’s hilt, the ruined shank then ejected itself with a soft hiss, falling to the ground with a loud clatter.

“I could ask you the same question, Jean,” she added in a murmur, her hand moving to replace a new blade from her current reserves. “I wouldn’t lower my guard on the open field to chat with a comrade if I were you.”
