He watched her look away before doing the same, his attention moving to the night sky. “I think I would.” Levi’s gone out for the same reason on more than one occasion. “But because you asked if I’d believe you, I have to stay a little suspicious.”
He gave her a look from the corner of his eyes. “So, is that the only reason you’re out here?”
She supposed it was a given that he’d express even the faintest bit of doubt towards her question, what with the way she’d phrased it. Though whether or not that was a favorable response to her, she wasn’t quite sure.
On one hand, that meant he was cautious; a fair trait to have. But on the other hand, it meant he didn’t quite trust her yet. Then again, was she supposed to feel concerned over that fact at all? … Considering that he was on many occasions a savior to her adoptive brother, perhaps she should have–
“And you have every right to feel that way, sir.”
–Yet, despite her new-found respect for the man, why does that inkling of doubt still nag at the back of her mind? Why couldn’t she let go of this unjustified impression of foreboding?
It was irrational.
Lips pursed, her contemplative gaze remained lingering upon the nighttime sky. “… No,” It would be a bad idea to disregard how perceptive the man renowned as Humanity’s Strongest can be. “You could say that I needed time to think for myself.” Again, it wasn’t far from the truth. The passing nights have become more… tiring for her; sleep was something that kept eluding her, slipping through her fingers like sand.
Dark eyes soon shifted from the stars to glance at the other. “And, yourself? If I may ask.”
