[ Still out of tea, and he’d woken up cold—really, this day wasn’t looking to be one of his better ones. Seemingly overnight, the harsh bite of winter had entered the air, and he definitely wasn’t happy about it. ]

[ Granted, he was never happy about winter. Feelings aside, however, he was awake. ]

“–Intimidating the weather won’t help, sir.”

[ A rather forward comment that was treading on thin ice, indeed. Though her tongue just couldn’t seem to let the opportunity slip by that easily. Especially not after noticing her superior’s movements; how the cape cloaked around his shoulders seem to tighten by the slightest, as his expression did. Very faint, but nevertheless did not go unnoticed by her. ]

[ … Though she thought not with spite. Oh no, far from that. Rather… it only made her think; he was human too. ]

“Ackerman from the 104th Trainees Squad reporting, currently on standby… And awaiting further assignments.”

[ She was aware that she should’ve been using her free time on hand – scarce as they already are – to rest and relax. Most would jump at the chance of having some time off duties to laze away, after all. Yet, with nothing to occupy herself with… It was difficult to keep her mind busy from her own thoughts. ]

[ And yet, why did she choose to approach the Corporal himself? … He seemed just as unoccupied himself, she deduced. ]

“… Is there something that needs to be done?”
