He wasn’t expecting her to take some of the books out of his arms but he adjusted to the lack of weight in his arms and quietly thanked her as he let the door swing shut behind them. “Well trying to at least, thank you Mikasa. They’re doing fine… preoccupying a lot of my time in fact. I’m starting to wonder if I’m putting a little too much time in them.” He shifted his glance over to her. “And what about you? Has training been alright for you without Eren being around so much?”

“I see.” Books in hand, she continued to move alongside him, her pace fairly in sync with his own. “But if I had any say on that, I don’t think that’s the case. You’re devoting yourself to something that’s beneficial– for us, and for yourself. If anything, that’s not something any of us should pay a blind eye to.”

Her lips pursed themselves upon his inquiry, however, unsure of how to answer. “… I’d be lying if I said that I’m fine. Not about training– though it’s certainly gotten a little harder, I don’t feel it's a problem for me. But…” Her gaze trailed over to the path ahead of her. “It’s a little hard letting time pass without seeing him as much as we used to.

”–But that’s something to forget about for now. It’s a given, considering how busier things are for all of us now. And… I’m sure he’s doing fine. The special ops squad…“ Feeling that she’s spoken a bit too much, far from what she initially felt was necessary, her voice began to trail off into a quiet murmur.

Having a pile of books in his arms wasn’t usual or out of place at all for him. However even with a staggering amount of things he had tucked into his arms, he was struck with a chivalrous idea when he noticed his fellow soldier coming towards the door, even though they had more physical capability than he did. It was just polite. “Oh! Ah, let me get that for you.” He elbowed the door open in an attempt not drop the leather bounds in his hands.

A slim eyebrow lifted itself by the slightest upon observing the other’s actions, and while he managed to pry the door open with his elbow, a quiet exhale of breath escaped her lips. As much as she understood her close friend’s inclination to be cordial, there really was no need for him to do that in her stead– rather, it should have been otherwise. And so without question, her hands reached out to take the first few books from his arms. “You’ve been working hard, Armin. How are your studies coming along?”
