“Why not? It’s kind of fun!”

“I see you’re having fun with that. But, I’ll pass.”

“Don’t let the higher-ups hear you.”

ue-to-osorenai:

“You wanna try it? It isn’t that hard once you get the hang of it.”

“… No, I’d rather not.”

ravezwart said: ….. ….. …

[Belches quietly.]

[ Quietly sighs through her nose. ]

ue-to-osorenai:

With a deep breath, she looked up at Mikasa. One hand gripped her companion’s sleeve like a vice as she shakily drew the courage to recount her experience. Ymir had once again pulled the wool over her eyes.

image

“She told me a story about how the girl’s barracks are haunted. Every year at least one girl goes missing without a trace because of it. No one’s gone missing yet this year so she said it’ll happen soon.” She shook her head rapidly as if to dispel the notion, “She said the ghost comes and snatches you away! Just like that!

Well, at least Sasha was listening and did as she told her to. That was a good sign. Patting the back of the hand that clutched at her sleeve, she listened in turn. Whether or not that was some sort of vague attempt to soothe her, however, was left up in the air.

And in all honesty, she found the story to be rather… overused. Was that really all Ymir had to pull out to frighten the girl? A voiceless sigh escaped her lips.

image

”… And? Do you believe it?“

ue-to-osorenai:

“M-mikasa!” She exclaimed a little too loudly for the late hour, rushing forward and throwing her arms around the girl. It was a relief to see another soul and not have to continue through headquarters alone.

image

“Ymir told me the scariest story. I swear! She told me it’s real too! I’m so glad I ran into you. I don’t want to have to walk back to the girl’s sleeping quarters alone."

"Sasha, lower your voice,” was the first thing that left her lips. No one would want Shadis overhearing the fuss and marching over to the barracks once again– and if anything, the consequences may as well be scarier than just any nighttime story.

image

“Calm down. Breathe.” Lifting a hand, she made a gesture to her, almost akin to that of a trained dog’s command to heel. “Now, tell me what Ymir told you. You should have known better than believe what she has to say, though.” Knowing how far Ymir tends to take her jokes and banter at times, it should have been a given. Then again, this was Sasha.

ue-to-osorenai:

Creak.

      Bump.

            Rustle.

image

“I just heard the scariest story. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight.”

And now the Survey Corps headquarters looked more like a haunted castle than anything else.

It was tricky to tell which seemed more startling; Sasha’s expression as she came stumbling in, or the aforementioned story itself.

–Though knowing her, both of them were probably mere exaggerations.

image

“Is that so…” Seeing as the other did seem genuinely shocked, she felt that she might as well entertain the thought. “Was it really the scariest?”
